Where touch technology has made life easier and convenient and everything just a click away, it has also made playing games even more fun, thrilling and exciting. I remember when I got my first Nokia phone years ago the first thing I checked were games. A few months back I got my first smartphone, that too, after months of saving. Reason, well I wanted to play Temple Run which came as a built in application on the HTC cell phone.
So for those who are wondering what Temple Run is all about, I will give a brief description of the game. It is an adventure game where the player has to escape from a group of demonic monkeys with a stolen idol from an ancient temple. The player has to jump, dodge and duck under obstacles through swipes on the touch screen as he runs for his life.
Although Temple run was one hell of an exciting and intriguing game that made time run faster than usual, it still had a few bugs that needed to be fixed and a few improvements which would have made the game even more exotic.
Imangi Studios finally decided to surprise its loyal and keen users or gamers more like it and will be launching a sequel to the original game sometime today. The original game, for now, has over 170 million users and with the sequel launched today, I assume, that this number will increase ten folds.

So why is Temple Run 2, the new version of Temple Run, is exciting me and many other players out there. For one, it is rumored to include new power ups, a mine cart, zip lines, and an even bigger monkey. Also the game is expected to have new improvised environment and enhanced graphics. The characters are expected to have their own special powers which will make the game even more thrilling. Also the players will get a chance to operate a mine car and will have the ability to play as four different characters.
As per the co-founder Keith Shepherd, “We wanted to set out and do all the things we wanted to do with Temple Run but we couldn’t fit in. It feels like a bigger, better, more awesome version of the first game.”
The newer version of the game really does enhance the original concept. The sequel now takes place in a floating temple in the clouds and the players have to face new obstacles, like swinging from zip lines and riding in a rickety mine cart.
“The world you’re running in is much more rich and vibrant,” Shepherd says. “There are curves and hills and valleys and stairs.”
For now, the Temple Run 2 will be available for iPhone and iPad for free and can be downloaded from the App Store.
The android version will hit the Play Store on 24th January, 2013. Stay tuned as we will surely be covering the news yet again when the awesome game is finally available for download.
